Citing the civil war in Ethiopia, the US on Friday announced that Ethiopians living in the country will get work permits and be shielded from deportation for 18 months. US Homeland Security Department said it was extending Temporary Protected Status to Ethiopians due to the "extraordinary and temporary conditions" that make it dangerous for them to return to their country.
