The US recorded its one millionth organ transplant on Friday. The achievement was confirmed at 12:50 pm ET by United Network for Organ Sharing, a nonprofit that runs the only organ procurement and transplantation network in US. The first successful organ transplant occurred in 1954 in Boston when doctors transplanted kidney from 23-year-old Ronald Herrick into his twin brother Richard.
