US' European Command confirmed on Wednesday that it has taken control of the Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera (earlier called Bella-1) in the North Atlantic Ocean after it slipped through US' maritime "blockade" of sanctioned tankers. The operation was completed while a Russian submarine and other naval assets were reportedly near Marinera. Marinera was seized over a US federal court's warrant.
