US to charge China's supertankers up to ₹45 crore per port call

The US is penalising made-in-China oil supertankers with more hefty charges amid the trade war between the two countries. Shipbrokers estimate China-owned or China-operated ships can expect to be hit with a surcharge of up to $5.2 million (around ₹45 crore) per US port call. Under US' previous proposal, charges of up to $3.5 million per port call were estimated.
