The US is preparing to revoke the terrorist designation of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the ex-group of Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The HTS, which was previously known as al-Nusra Front, had long been designated a terrorist group by the US due to its links to al-Qaeda. It had also led a successful offensive that toppled ex-President Bashar-al Assad's regime.
