Use of guppy fish to control mosquito creates new risks

Introduced to control mosquitoes, guppy fish are now spreading in freshwater ecosystems, threatening native aquatic biodiversity and creating unintended ecological consequences across several regions of India. Besides lack of effectiveness, scientists argue that the introduction of aggressive and highly invasive species such as the guppies can drastically alter the freshwater habitats.
