The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority approved the Uttan-Virar sea link project which was initiated by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The project will affect 226.49 hectares of mangroves and forest land. State Environment Secretary Jayashree Bhoj said that the department will seek approval from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.
