Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh has given his approval to the Uttarakhand Public Services (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Bill, 2022, thereby reserving 30% of state government jobs for native women. The bill had been passed by the state Assembly on November 30, weeks after the Supreme Court dismissed High Court's stay on a 2006 government order seeking the reservation.
