The vampire bat is the only mammal that feeds entirely on blood. They have a heat sensor on the nose that helps them determine where warm blood is flowing. After biting the victim, they begin to consume blood, with their saliva preventing blood clots. While they usually feed on sleeping cattle and horses, they occasionally attack humans as well.
