During the launch of the extended Vande Bharat Express from Mangaluru Central to Thiruvananthapuram, it was announced that demand for the train on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru route is growing. Electrification work is ongoing; services are expected to start in June if Shiradi stretch works are completed by May-end.
