The government is planning to inter-link the Aadhaar number and passport issuance process in the near future. After its implementation, the passport authorities will cross check particulars of an applicant, including biometric imprint, with those registered in the Aadhaar database. The Regional Passport Office of Delhi has started this as a pilot project which will later be extended countrywide.
