Vespa banned in the birthplace of its inventor

The Mayor of Genoa in Northern Italy has banned the Vespa scooters, which were manufactured before 1999, from 7 am to 7 pm to curb air pollution. The move has reportedly angered about 20,000 scooter riders, who are using the hashtag #lamiavespanonsitocca, which means ‘don’t touch my Vespa’, on social media. The scooter’s inventor Enrico Piaggio was born in Genoa.
