A 4-minute video suggests that humans can live a nearly normal life with about half less brain, as per late John Freeman, a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins University. The video, however, states that it would not be possible to live without the brain stem, which is at the top of the spine, as it controls heart, lungs and blood pressure.
