Nocturnal animals see at night because their eyes are adapted to compensate for the lack of light. Different nocturnal creatures have adapted differently. For instance, cats use gleaming eyes for this purpose. On the other hand, a tarsier's eyeballs, which are each as big as its brain, can gather as much light as possible, allowing it to see at night.
