A video details a study in which polyethylene, commonly known as plastic, was converted into energy. The researchers took plastic from bottles, food packaging, shopping bags and mixed it with a catalyst, turning the plastic into an alkane, a compound which is usually burned for energy. The scientists thus broke down plastic into alkane oil products, namely diesel.
