Vietnam is extending its runway on Spratly Island in the disputed territory of South China Sea, in response to China building military facilities on artificial islands in the region, according to reports. The runway would reportedly be able to accommodate transport and surveillance aircraft. Notably, the South China Sea is disputed territory with several nations having rival claims over it.
