The Supreme Court has remarked that it is constitutionally impermissible for anybody- State or non-state actors- to vilify and denigrate anyone through any medium, such as speeches, cartoons, memes and visual arts. "It will be violative of the Constitution to target any particular community based on religion, language, caste or region by whosoever he or she may be," it said.
