Volcanoes can slumber for a long time before reawakening: Study

Scientists reconstructed last 7 lakh years of activity for Methana Volcano in Greece, studying over 1,250 rock crystals, showing a volcano can slumber for more than 1,00,000 years before reawakening. Since the magma chamber cannot release excess material, eruptions don't occur, allowing sticky magma to build up. Over time, this accumulation can result in larger and more powerful eruptions.
