Volkswagen reserves $18 billion for layoff costs: Report

Volkswagen has set aside around $18.6 billion to prepare for costs it will face due to upcoming layoffs and potential plant closures, Reuters reported citing a source. The source added that phasing out production from four plants in Germany would cost around $7 billion. Volkswagen recently announced that it would cut around 1,00,000 jobs worldwide by end of the decade.
