PM Narendra Modi on Thursday appealed to the people of Assam to vote in large numbers as voting began for Assembly polls. "I hope that the state's youth and women voters participate enthusiastically and make this election a celebration of democracy and public duty," he stated. Over 700 candidates are in the fray for 126 Assembly seats in Assam.
