At least 144 people have died after the strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday, state-run MRTV said. Union Cabinet has approved a 2% dearness allowance/relief (DA/DR) hike for all 48.66 lakh central government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA Final exam will now be held three times a year instead of two. Last year, ICAI had taken a decision to hold the Intermediate and Foundation course exams three times a year. The exams will be held in the month of January, May and September, ICAI announced.

Three policemen have been killed in action in a day-long encounter with the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, news agency PTI reported. Three terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Meanwhile, seven other policemen, including a DSP, were injured in the encounter, which broke out at 8 am on Thursday.
