Warning issued for Sabarimala pilgrims amid rise in 'brain eating amoeba' disease

Karnataka government has issued guidelines for visitors of Kerala's Sabarimala Temple after rise in cases of amoebic meningoencephalitis- caused by 'brain eating amoeba'. It advised pilgrims to use nose clips or tightly close their noses while taking the ritual bath. This is because the amoeba reaches the brain after entering through the nasal passage, causing a condition that's mostly fatal.
