American investor Warren Buffett made his first investment at the age of 11, when he bought six shares of an oil service company at $38 a share. The business tycoon held onto the shares despite a 30% drop, and ultimately sold them at a profit. Considered one of the most successful investors ever, Buffett was born on August 30, 1930.
