Vicky Kaushal's father Sham Kaushal, who is an action director, recalled that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2003. "The doctors said that I won't survive," Sham said, adding, "After [that] I saw the best days of my life. I won all the awards after 2003." He added that his children, Vicky and Sunny, were teenagers at the time.
