Washing rice may reduce nutrients but removes 40% of microplastics: Study

A study conducted by University of Queensland found that washing rice before cooking may wash off nutrients but also reduces microplastics in the rice by 20-40%. Researchers said washing rice may not affect people nutritionally as it contributes a small percentage to people's daily nutrient intake. They added that washing rice can also remove arsenic absorbed from soil during farming.
