Mobile Premier League (MPL) CEO Sai Srinivas said the government's new online gaming rules are a "watershed moment for the industry" as they distinguish between online gaming intermediaries and gambling. The rules would help in curbing offshore and illegal gambling platforms that show "little regard for consumer interest", said Games24x7 Co-founder Trivikraman Thampy.
