Webb telescope discovers 6 rogue worlds that do not orbit stars
short by Swati Dubey / on Thursday, 29 August, 2024
Astronomers using James Webb Space Telescope have discovered six rogue worlds - objects slightly larger than Jupiter that don't orbit stars. These bodies were found in star-forming nebula NGC 1333, 960 light-years away. Webb's infrared capability allowed it to see through dust, revealing stars, brown dwarfs, and planetary-mass objects. The findings shed light on how low-mass objects form in space.
