Webb telescope used to study icy rings of asteroid Chariklo

Scientists have used a new technique with the world's most powerful telescope James Webb Telescope to capture the shadows of starlight cast by the rings of asteroid Chariklo, which was first discovered in 1997. Chariklo is the first asteroid found to have a ring system. The telescope's data revealed three absorption bands of water ice around Chariklo.
