The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government on Tuesday announced that the 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief has come into effect from April 1. The new DA rate (14%) is for employees and pensioners of state government and government-aided educational institutions, statutory bodies, government undertakings, etc. The increased rate was earlier to be effective from May 1.
