West Bengal has reported a sharp spike in adenovirus cases and the virus was detected in at least 32% of samples of respiratory infections among children at Kolkata's ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, officials said. An advisory has been issued by the state health department, requesting citizens to avoid crowded places and to wear masks.
