West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has declared that the state will not provide financial support to the National Health Protection Scheme, or 'ModiCare'. Adding that 50 lakh people were enrolled under Swasthya Sathi programme by the West Bengal government, Banerjee said, "[W]hy should the state spend on another programme when it already has its own?"
