Farmers in West Garo Hills were trained to turn banana and ramie waste into “New Age fibres” at a 10-day programme by the Central Agricultural University, Tura. Sponsored by ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, the initiative aims to spur rural textile start-ups and value addition from farm residue.
