What are Government Securities?

Government securities are debt instruments issued by a government to raise funds for financing various public expenditures, such as infrastructure projects or budget deficits. When investors purchase these securities, they are essentially lending money to the government in exchange for periodic interest payments and the promise to return the principal amount at maturity.
