IMF's First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath said that India's Union Budget for 2022-23 should address "the very unequal recovery within the economy". The rural jobs guarantee scheme should remain "well-funded" and the government should extend the free food scheme beyond March 2022, India-born Gopinath told BloombergQuint. Spending on healthcare and education also needs attention, she added.
