'Monsoon brides' is a term being used to describe the rise in child marriages in Pakistan by rights activist Mashooque Birhmani. After the 2022 floods, several families are marrying off their underage daughters in exchange for money to save themselves from poverty. Since the last monsoon, 45 underage girls have been married in Khan Mohammad Mallah village.
