PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated India’s first underwater metro in Kolkata. The Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of Kolkata Metro, which has been built at a cost of ₹4,965 crore, connects key areas, including Salt Lake Sector V. The fare for underwater metro is ₹5 for first two kilometres and rises to ₹10, ₹15, ₹20, ₹25 and so on till ₹50.
