Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has confirmed her retirement from competitive badminton. Her major achievements include being the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in badminton (bronze, 2012), becoming world number one (2015), winning silver and bronze at the World Championships, and securing multiple Commonwealth Games golds. Nehwal is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Khel Ratna.
