Iran had reportedly communicated that it could activate sleeper cells inside the US. Sleeper cells are covert operatives placed within communities that stay inactive for extended periods, often appearing as ordinary residents until directed to carry out acts of terrorism, espionage or sabotage. Reportedly, the US has stepped up surveillance of sleeper cells after bombing Iranian nuclear sites.
