Indian Army's newly raised Bhairav Light Commando Battalions are specialised strike units designed to carry out rapid, high-impact operations along India’s northern and western borders. Five Bhairav battalions are functional, and four more are in process of being raised. Each battalion has a strength of around 250 personnel and will act as a bridge between Special Forces and regular infantry.
