The Kochi Metro, which started in 2012, was commissioned in 45 months, the shortest time among all Indian metro services. It will provide boat rides to and from the stations for people living on the banks of the backwaters, apart from low-floor buses. Additionally, all stations' rooftops have solar panels and every sixth pillar will have a vertical garden.
