What causes non-alcoholic fatty liver disease?

Health expert Dr Shikha says non-alcoholic fatty liver disease mainly stems from metabolic dysfunction. Obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and abnormal lipid profiles drive excess liver fat. Genetic and environmental factors also play a role, promoting de novo lipogenesis and impaired lipid clearance, which lead to fat accumulation in the liver.
