What constitutes ball tampering in cricket?

Ball tampering refers to illegally altering the condition of the ball to gain unfair advantage. Under cricket's laws, players cannot scratch the ball, lift its seam, rub it on ground or polish it with any artificial substance. Only natural polishing using sweat is permitted. Lahore Qalandars' Fakhar Zaman tampered with ball in their PSL match against Karachi Kings.
