Visuals have shown Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Tahawwur Rana being handed over to Indian authorities by US Marshals, before his extradition to India on Thursday. A picture showed the 64-year-old in chains and surrounded by Marshals during the handover. Rana was sent to 18-custody of National Investigation Agency (NIA) after he was brought to Delhi.

US State Department on Thursday reacted to 26/11 attacks mastermind Tahawwur Rana's extradition, saying, "US has long supported India's efforts to ensure those responsible for these attacks are brought to justice." State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said, "As President (Donald) Trump has said, the US and India will continue to work together to combat the global scourge of terrorism."

Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, Agustin Escobar, and his family were among those killed after a helicopter crashed in New York's Hudson River. The helicopter was a Bell 206 operated by New York Helicopter, which runs sightseeing tours. New York City's Police Commissioner Jessica S Tisch said that the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The agency said his extradition was secured after years of sustained and concerted efforts. A total of 166 people were killed in the terror attacks.

Tahawwur Rana, the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has been successfully extradited to India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced on Thursday. Calling Rana the "key conspirator behind the 2008 mayhem", NIA said, "Extradition finally came through after Rana exhausted all legal avenues." US' Supreme Court had recently denied Rana's plea against extradition.
