What does law say about force feeding as Sonam Wangchuk's strike enters day 19?

There's no law stopping activist Sonam Wangchuk from conducting his hunger strike, which entered its 19th day, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. There's also no Supreme Court ruling that either permits or prohibits the force-feeding of an adult on a hunger strike. In Wangchuk's case, the Delhi High Court said doctors would "intervene" if required.
