What happens if no one can form a government in Israel?

short by Aradhana / on Monday, 2 November, 2026
After 2026 general elections, Israel has a hung parliament. President Herzog will invite a candidate to form government within 42 days. If unsuccessful, he can invite another candidate, who'll have 28 days to prove majority. If that fails, lawmakers can propose a candidate, who gets 14 days to secure majority or minority government, failing which fresh elections will be held.
