What happens if the US presidential election result is a tie?

If both US presidential candidates win 269 electoral votes each, the House of Representatives would vote to decide the President, with each state delegation having one vote. The Senate would choose the Vice President. If the US Congress has not declared a Presidential or Vice Presidential winner by January 20, the Speaker of the House would serve as acting President.
