Sitting for prolonged hours in one place without taking a break can increase the risk of various health issues like excessive weight gain, according to General Medicine Specialist Dr Manjusha Agarwal. "This is because excessive sitting can significantly slow down your metabolism," she added. She also advised people to take 4 to 5-minute breaks "frequently" to stay active.
