What happens to the body when it misses out on sunlight during winters?
short by Daisy Mowke / on Saturday, 11 January, 2025
Without sunlight during colder months, body produces less vitamin D, essential for bone health, immunity and mood regulation, said Dr Bikky Chaurasia, consultant, internal medicine. Production of melatonin, the hormone controlling sleep, may be affected. After two weeks, fatigue, muscle weakness may become more evident. Depression and lethargy become more likely after a month without sunlight.
