According to Emmanuel Urquieta, Chief Medical Officer at NASA's Translational Research Institute for Space Health, if someone died on a low-Earth-orbit mission, the body can reach Earth in a matter of hours and it can take a few days if it occurred on the Moon. If someone stepped outside into space without a spacesuit, they would die almost instantly.
