While sleeping on one's stomach may reduce snoring, the position can create strain in the back and neck, which can affect the quality of sleep. Sleeping in this position flattens the natural curve of the lower spine and increases mechanical load on spinal tissues, which is linked with more low-back pain and morning spinal stiffness, studies have shown.
